The ultimate aim of Matwork at Exeter Pilates is to provide clients with a safe yet challenging exercise program that improves core strength, flexibility, and coordination. Every exercise begins with a stable starting position, and stabilization is required regardless of the placement of the torso, whether lying supine, lying prone, sitting, or side-lying.  Modifications to starting positions may be necessary to alleviate tension in various clients.  Pads, foam cushions, and light equipment such as a resistance ring, a flex-band, large or small stability balls, foam rollers or an arc barrel may be utilized to alter the intensity of an exercise and allow for the functional limitations of each client.
